I’m not your typical jeweller—I’m an artist, creator, and unapologetic dreamer. I wear many hats and love to carve my own path, especially when it comes to designing jewellery that defies convention. I founded inSync design because I wanted to create jewellery that was anything but ordinary - pieces that were bold, artistic, impeccably crafted, and accessible.
When I’m not in my Melbourne studio (which is rare), you’ll find me in the gym, wandering along the beach, or listening to a thought-provoking podcast. These moments inspire me and fuel the creative spark behind every piece I make.
The journey of inSync design began 17 years ago on a whim. At the time, I was a stay-at-home mum with a three-year-old daughter who was obsessed with drawing adorable stick figures - hundreds of them! I received an invitation to participate in a pre-Christmas craft market and saw an opportunity to create something inspired by my daughter’s whimsical drawings. I wanted to craft playful, vibrant jewellery using unconventional materials that were durable and affordable. Up until then, I had been working with traditional precious metals like gold, diamonds, and pearls, but I felt a pull to experiment with something different. Stainless steel became my go-to, not just for its hypoallergenic properties and durability, but also because it allowed me to play with bright colour using powder coating.
With my first designs sketched out, I asked my husband to take them to his colleagues for feedback. That evening, he returned with disappointing news: no one liked them and he advised me to abandon the idea. But I loved this concept and decided to trust my instincts. I took the first batch of 70 brooches to the market, and to my surprise, they almost sold out. Soon after, these brooches were being stocked by the National Gallery of Victoria, and before long, inSync design jewellery was available in all the major galleries across Australia.
Buoyed by this success, inSync headed to a trade show in London where the Victoria and Albert Museum picked up my work, placing a massive first order. My designs were also discovered by an American museum store and were featured in an English trend forecasting book. From there, inSync design pieces made their way into museum stores internationally, gracing the shelves of iconic institutions like MoMA and gaining recognition in prestigious publications.
For over 15 years, my pieces were represented by some of the best museums and galleries in Australia, the U.S., and Europe, earning numerous awards and seeing my jewellery featured in design books, magazines, and galleries worldwide.
Then the pandemic hit, and with museums closed, I pivoted to focus online. This led me to connect directly with collectors - an unexpected joy that allowed me to build beautiful and lasting relationships with my collectors who value and cherish my work.
At the heart of inSync design is a commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship. I carefully choose materials that are not only hypoallergenic, feather-light and durable but also environmentally friendly, ensuring each piece stands the test of time. My jewellery is designed to be more than just an accessory - it’s wearable art that tells your story, crafted to be collected, loved, and passed on.
Thank you for being here and supporting my journey. Here’s to embracing artful, bold living with jewellery that dares to stand out.
